Awards and Recognition at Chapter Annual Business Meeting

President Kathy Quinn recognized chapter leaders at the 2008 Annual Business Meeting November 13.

Quinn thanked outgoing Past President Linda Counts for serving above and beyond the call of duty, having served a three and one half year term on the chapter Executive Board.  Counts served the chapter in an extended term while the association transitioned through a change in the fiscal year.

Quinn also recognized and thanked outgoing Director Daria de Cooman, who led the extremely successful Fall Professional Development Seminar held last month.  Kudos and thanks go as well to de Cooman's planning team, Daniel Fitz-Enz, Vani Inampundi, and Kathy Quinn.

Grace Viola Receives Chapter Scholarship Award

The San Diego Chapter last evening recognized Grace Viola, from San Jose State University as this year's Scholarship Award winner.  Based upon her personal statement and goals for special librarianship, Grace was chosen from among several qualified candidates to receive a $1,000 scholarship and one year's membership in SLA.

Chapter Student Liaison Amanda Quist presented the award last evening at the Chapter's Annual Business meeting.

Holiday Party!! - December 5

Mark you calendar now for the always popular SLA San Diego Chapter Holiday Open House.

This year we will gather at the home of President Kathy Quinn and Michell Frost to enjoy the company of our colleagues from throughout the county, while munching on a potluck of shared dishes.

• Time - 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Date - Friday, December 5
• Place - 4649 - 68th Street, La Mesa (for the best directions, check Google Maps.)

Bring a potluck dish to share, and let Kathy and Michelle know you are coming by contacting Hospitality Chair Vani Inampudi at [email protected].  Give Vani your name, company or affiliation and whether or not you are an SLA member.  The deadline to RSVP is Tuesday, December 2, so that we will know how many partiers to expect.

Great News - Deadline to Register for Nov 13 Meeting Extended

Don't worry if you missed the deadline to register for the November 13 Chapter Meeting.  The deadline is extended through Monday, November 10.  We look forward to hearing from SLA President Elect Gloria Zamora, congratulating our newest chapter scholarship recipient, and communing with like-minded professionals.
