AWARD NAME: Innovation in Action Award
AWARD AMOUNT: $100
PURPOSE: The Innovation in Action Award
recognizes an information professional or team of information professionals who
has initiated and implemented new processes or programs to enhance
their own information organizations or who has enhanced the profession through
chapter activities.
ELIGIBILITY:
Applicants/nominees must be active
members in good standing of the Minnesota Chapter.
Applicants may be self-nominated
or nominated by an active member of the Chapter.
Winners may not receive the award
two consecutive years; however, they may win the following year as part of a
team effort.
The selected initiative must have
been completed within a 2-year period prior to December 31st, 2012.
Winners must agree to serve on the
Awards Committee in 2012.
Winners must agree to present the
initiative to the Chapter via meeting presentation or a written report on the
webpage or Chapter newsletter.
Applications will not carry over
from one year to the next; however applicants may resubmit their applications.
Members of the Awards Committee
and their organizations are not eligible.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
The Award review process will take
place annually; however, there is no requirement that the award be given every
year.
All applications must be
accompanied by an overview of initiative not to exceed 5 typewritten pages.
Special efforts should be made to address goals expected from the initiative,
the process used to accomplish the initiative, and actual benefits accrued to
the information organization and/or chapter as a result of the initiative.
Nomination forms and letters of
support from the applicant's organization should be received by the
Past-President, Rachel Wangerin, rbwangerin@mmm.com
by Friday, January 25th.
The Awards Committee will consist
of the Past-President (who will be the committee chair) and winners
from the previous calendar year of the Innovation in Action award,
professional development awards, and conference award.
Upon receipt of the Award
applications, the Awards Committee will review all applications and complete
interviews with applicants as needed concerning the initiative.
The Awards Committee will select a
winner and present its selection to the Board of Directors.
The Award recipient will be
notified by early February and will be awarded at the 2012
Night of Honors chapter meeting (held in the first quarter of 2013).
JUDGING CRITERIA:
Significance and/or challenge of
the initiative to the organization.
Quality of the plan developed.
Impact of the project and benefits
to the organization and clients.
Measurable goals and results
demonstrated.
Involvement of team/work group.
Documented new processes or
products.
Detail in nomination form.
Timetable.
Interview quality (if applicable).
Selection criteria will focus on
the challenge of the initiative, its impact on the organization, and the
benefits ultimately achieved.
The work of the Awards Committee
is confidential, and as such, all documentation will be destroyed after the
annual selection process.
