The deadline for applications is February 22, 2011, and the winner will be notified by March 8, 2011. The early bird registration rate is in effect until April 8, 2011.
Award Name: SLA Annual Conference Grant
Award Amount: The Minnesota Chapter of the Special Libraries Association is offering one $1000 scholarship to subsidize the cost of a "Full Member" (not a student) attending the Annual Conference.
Purpose: This scholarship is intended to encourage continuing professional development for a special librarian already in the field, specifically one who is unable to provide the funds for attending the conference on their own or with help from their employer.
Eligibility:
- Applicants may not be current students, as they would be eligible for the student group scholarship.
- Applicants should be current SLA members with a Minnesota Chapter affiliation.
- Applicant must demonstrate that attending the conference would be a financial burden otherwise
- Applicant must agree to write an article for the chapter newsletter about their experiences.
- Applicant must be able to serve on the Awards Committee for the entire year following the receipt of their award.
Judging Criteria:
- The award will be given to the person who best demonstrates how they would benefit from attending the conference.
- Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated a history of involvement in the chapter and in the field of special librarianship.
- The award will not be granted if no applicant adequately expresses their interest and need.

The winner will be announced via e-mail and the award presented at a future award ceremony.
