This role demands a proactive professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be the key representative for RSC publishing in North America, supporting the company's strategic objectives and developments.
Your primary focus will be networking, creating effective relationships, and product and service development. This will include:
•Supporting the implementation of RSC Publishing plans in the North America, in association with UK publishing staff and Editorial Boards
•Making all efforts to develop the best authorship, readership and Editorial/Advisory boards for RSC journals, books and magazines in North America, through activities such as personal contact, commissioning, attendance at conferences and developing a network of key librarians and information specialists
•Build strategic relationships with companies, leading scientists, academic institutions and policy makers in North America, with the aim of increasing the RSC's influence and impact
•Identify and develop new opportunities for RSC Publishing
Essential Skills and qualifications
•Master's degree or PhD in science (chemical science normally preferred)
•Work experience - this could include:
-Scientific research (for government, academic or corporate organisations)
-Product development
-Academia
•Proven ability to work as part of a team
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
•Good organisational and time-management skills are required together with the ability to work under pressure autonomously and to meet deadlines
•Willingness to travel nationally and internationally
•Up-to-date knowledge of and passion for the chemical sciences
•Contacts with the relevant communities
Desirable skills and qualifications
•Experience in, or knowledge of, Scientific, Technical & Medical publishing
•Thorough understanding of US and/or Canadian education systems
